COVID-19 INFORMATION FOR MAKERS

We fully respect and understand that everyone is at different levels of comfort with COVID-19. This Christmas market is a space to support local makers. As shared before, we are deemed an essential service under Phase 2. Just like Costco or Superstore etc is essential retail, so are we. Now more than ever we want to give a space for shoppers to choose local!

There is ZERO judgement if we do not see your application.

There is ZERO judgement for you doing what is best for your company + family.

We ask that you give grace for all. Grace for those who choose not to participate during this time and grace for those who do. We are all adjusting + pivoting together.

PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF:

  • You are not comfortable with Phase 4, Road to Recovery Plan

  • You are not comfortable with shoppers interacting with your product

  • You are not comfortable with the current rules + protocols laid out by the Province of MB

  • You are not comfortable being around larger numbers of shoppers / makers

  • If you are caring for anyone that you feel would be at risk by you being at a market

  • You are not comfortable with people not wearing masks.

  • You do not have someone to work your booth if you get sick or have come into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID. Having someone to work your booth as a back up is vital. Please do NOT apply if you do not have a solid plan B in place! It’s extremely discouraging for makers to be on a wait list and see makers drop out just before a market, giving them no time to prep and take their spot.

MASKS

Please note that we will be following rules set out by the province that are in place on October 22nd. If masks are not mandatory during that time we will not make them mandatory at our market. If they are mandatory on October 22nd, then we will make them mandatory at the market.

We are not above the law. Our ideas and opinions are not above the law. We will follow the rules and protocols set out by the Government. We will not set our own rules based on our opinions or ideas or the ideas and opinions of others.   However, we will have masks for sale for $1 at admission.

If masks/face shields are mandatory, please note that we will have a sign up stating that anyone who is exempt due to health concerns or a disability, they will not be asked to provide or disclose to our staff, shoppers or makers why they are not wearing a mask. We want to make sure our market in inclusive to all who wish to attend.  We will assume any staff, maker or shopper is exempt if they are not wearing a mask.  We ask that you show love + kindness and do not question, give an unkind look,  or deny service to anyone not wearing a mask. We must assume the best of everyone.

WHAT THE MARKET WILL LOOK LIKE

Shoppers will buy timed tickets. They will arrive at a set time and move as a cohort, they will move in one direction as they shop… not because this is a “rule” but for the ease of keeping traffic flow simple and easy for keeping distance. We are setting up booths like a grocery story. Where shoppers can snake and move their way up through the market. If they need to ‘step out’ to use the washroom or double back to a vendor, they can step out at the end of the row and follow arrows to jump back in the ‘flow’ of traffic… just like you do when you are at Co-op or Superstore.

In effort to reduce line ups and keep our numbers within the rules, we are selling timed tickets. For example, someone can buy a ticket for a 9-11am shopping time slot. Once that group’s times slot is over, those shoppers will be asked to leave and the next cohort of shoppers who bought the next time slot 11-1pm will come in etc.

We are looking at offering a vendor break time where no shoppers will be in the building. Vendors can have a washroom + food break. You can also use this time to clean your booth, restock etc. This break would be 30min.

We will be extending the hours to accommodate all the shoppers and the shopping blocks, so having break times for you and our staff will be critical. If you have booth helpers you are welcome to take breaks whenever you need.

Please prepare yourself for longer market days. This is the only way we can accommodate all the shoppers while maintaining safe numbers. Get your comfortable shoes on + pack lots of energy bars!

BY CONTINUING THE APPLICATION PROCESS YOU AGREE TO ALL OF THE TERMS AND CONDITIONS AFOREMENTIONED AND WILL ADHERE TO ALL COVID-19 GUIDELINES FOR MAKERS
